INTRODUCTION
When discussing education, whether in the context of nation-building, polity, or the budget, what is being referred to is child education specifically, the education of children in the age group of six to fourteen years. Even in a nuanced discussion of education does the prospect of adult education arise? However, the importance of education for adults is highly disregarded in the grand scheme of political discussions about education.
What is adult education? Adult education is education aimed at mature students that have already taken part in the workforce. Learning as a mature student gives individuals the chance to gain new skills and expand their knowledge.
Our online learning courses are aligned to the National Standards to comply with Functional Skills for Adults. From literacy to numeracy, learning online with our programmes gives adults a chance to expand their knowledge and skillsets.
Adult education can take many forms and cover many different subjects. As well as literacy and numeracy, many mature aged students study languages, sciences and a range of other important subjects.
IMPORTANT EDUCATION FOR ADULT
Adult education can help people build a solid career. Demand in the labor market is growing. Companies nowadays need more from their employees. Just one degree is no longer enough. Employees need to know a little bit about everything that is connected to their work. Adult education is a great way to achieve that. Fast and easy classes that allow employees to evolve, produce better results, and increase their employability.
Thus, education also improves Employability. One of the main reasons that a lot of multinational companies do not higher from India is that even though Indians are qualified for the job they do not have the skills necessary for doing that job that is the employability of the candidate is low. With low employability, it is only natural that a lot shank of people is currently unemployed even though they do have qualifications for doing jobs. This is where the importance of education for adults comes in. The candidates must be trained in a field of work beforehand so that they are employable by companies. This brings us to the next point.
The next importance of education for adults is being knowledgeable. Being knowledgeable is very important because it can measure the level of adults’ mentality. Adults have different level of mentality in terms of handling issues. It can be differentiated by the level of adults’ knowledge. For example, knowledgeable adults will ignore the issues that don’t bring any beneficial to them, while unknowledgeable adults will bark themselves with any issues that triggered them even though they don’t have any related to them.
Knowledgeable adults also tend to think before they speak and act. They will carefully choose the suitable words to be uttered on every situation. Rather than unknowledgeable adults, they will utter whatever they want without think first. Being knowledgeable in any situation especially at workplace is very important because it shows someone’s mentality in handling workload, interacting with other colleagues and job’s performance.
The last importance of education for adults is in terms of sociology. Sociology is an understanding and changing the social world presents a sociological understanding of society but also a sociological perspective on how to change society, while maintaining the structure and contents of the best mainstream texts. The major sociological perspectives on education fall nicely into the functional, conflict, and symbolic interactionist approaches (Ballantine & Hammack, 2009). Education serves several functions for society. These include socialization, social integration, social placement, and social and cultural innovation.
For socialization; if adults need to learn the norms, values, and skills they need to function in society, then education is a primary vehicle for such learning. Next is social integration. It is important for a society to work, functionalists say, and adults must subscribe to a common set of beliefs and values. For social placement; it is depending on how they are identified, adults are been taught since they are at school about the level that is thought to suit them best. In this way they are prepared in the most appropriate way possible for their later station in life. The last one is social and cultural innovation. It is depends on the path that adults have been chosen in subjects that they had learnt in their lives.
CHALLENGES FACED IN ADULTS EDUCATION
While the importance of education for adults is immense, adult learners may encounter a variety of difficulties. One of these is the challenge that those with full-time jobs face in juggling their schooling and careers. In other words, adult learners would picking up extra shifts at their job finding other ways to make money on the side. Another common issue is the challenge of transitioning back to a classroom setting after years spent in the field. It can be difficult for many adult learners to juggle their academic obligations with their responsibilities at work and at home. Thus, time management is essential to balance work and study as it is a key component to academic and professional success.
As for conclusion, education plays an important role for adults’ lives. It can be seen in their job promotion, leadership, knowledgeable and sociology. Without education, adults will never be as rational as they have to be. Education is not just helping in adults’ lives, but also to gain knowledge in wherever they go, and whatever they do.
