DIPLOMA IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

SIDMA College Sarawak Diploma in Early Childhood Education programme is designed to provide students with necessary skills and practical knowledge as well as preparing the students to meet the demands and challenges of the teaching profession at nursery and preschool levels for both public and private centres. The programme provides an excellent opportunity for non-graduate teachers, school-leavers, and those interested in entering the teaching profession to be better equipped with a more solid command of the professional pedagogical and subject knowledge.

Students who have successfully completed this program will be able to identify a suitable teaching and learning approaches for young children, attend their needs, and to be reflectively and professionally engaged in teaching-learning processes and experiences, curriculum planning, aspects of management, and development of the profession.

COURSE DURATION

The minimum full-time period of study is 2 1/2 years (7 semesters). Students will be provided with a comprehensive and practical learning plan, covering important and basic aspects of core, compulsory and professional subjects.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Possess SPM with a minimum of THREE credits in any subject or its equivalent; OR
A pass in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum of Grade C (GP 2.0) in any subject or its equivalent; OR
A pass in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with a minimum grade of Maqbul; OR
A Certificate (Level 3, MQF) in any qualification with at least a CGPA of 2.00; OR
*A pass in SKM/SVM Level 3, MQF in Early Child Care/Preschool (Note: HEPs need to conduct specific screening and guidance related to the field of the programme for the students.); OR
Other relevant equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian government as equivalent to the above requirements.

*Pass Bahasa Melayu AND Sejarah subject (SPM 2013 onwards).
